Think about it, the old expression, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is, holds as true today as it ever has. The title of this article says the simple secret to achieve direct sales success, so why are you starting off by stating that nothing is as easy as many sales letters and television infomercials would make you believe?

The word is simple, not easy. You see, with the Internet helping companies automate so many aspects of their business today, life can become a little bit more simplified. That is, of course, if you can figure out how to use all of todays technology.

Wait, now if you’re going to get nervous that I’m going to tell you that technology is difficult and not easy or simple to use, don’t worry. With many companies hiring the greatest technology geeks available today, they are figuring out how to simplify our lives more and more each day.

That being said, the direct sales business is mastering these technologies faster than many industries around the world. In fact some companies are using the Internet to not only attract new members to spread the word about their products and services, but they are doing it in a way that just requires you to fill out a form or 2 and click your way to your own personalized version of a company website.

Now, literally within minutes you can look like you’ve spent thousands of dollars on a website with all the tools in place to help your future clients and customers discover how simple it is to achieve their goals and dreams.

The next simple idea is the secret that nobody seems to talk about too often. Sure the technology helps, but it doesn’t do everything for you. So what is this Simple Secret that seems to elude most people that want more from their lives? It can be described within a four letter word, no not that one! The word I’m talking about is Work.

Yes, just a little work to help that direct sales website of yours get some traffic to it so people can see just how wonderful your company and the opportunity it offers is. But as stated in the opening paragraph people hear or read one thing and forget that work is still required to make it all happen.

With all the advancements in technology today people are constantly trying to take work out of the equation, but in the direct sales industry work can be as simple as using the search engines or placing classified ads to drive visitors and prospective customers to your website. From that consistent effort put forth by you, that same website will help tell the story of the company, the opportunity in front of your visitor, and if the direct sales company you work for is really on the ball, the website will even follow-up with the prospects and potentially close the sale for you.

Your job is just to focus on a little work on a consistent basis to help that website do its job so you can enjoy your life. Is it pretty easy? Not necessarily, because most people fall short on the word consistent, but simple, yes.

The secret to succeeding in direct sales is to get a reputation for the best party in town! A good party plan hostess will offer something out of the ordinary each time, and your client base will grow as your friends tell their friends and you start getting requests for invites.

A great way to showcase the products in a makeup or bath product starter kit is to throw an old fashioned spa party for moms you know. This type of direct sales party can be advertised as “NO kids allowed!” Get your husband or another family member to take your own children out of the house for the afternoon, and turn your house into girls only territory.

Then make sure you have some fun and interesting direct sales home party plan games to play! Women love to play games at the home party demonstration.

Clothespin Game
A terrific game at these kinds of home party demonstrations is easy and inexpensive to plan for. All you need is a spring type clothespin for each guest.

Have them clip it on the edge of their skirt hem, lapel or collar. Anyone who says the words “kids”, “children” or any form thereof is free game for the nearest woman to grab her clothespin and add it to her own.

Any group of moms is bound to bring up kids every third or fourth sentence, so there should be general scrambling and hilarity as one after another they forget and say the banned words! Of course, the one who ends up with all of the clothespins wins, and gets a prize in the form of a product or coupon. As the party plan hostess, you will probably have to referee – it can get pretty competitive.

Product Raffle
Another great direct sales party trick is to have everyone chip in to buy a ticket at the door. The proceeds can be used to purchase an item which is then put up for a drawing, so one lucky mom goes home with an extra product!

Dress-Up
During the home party demonstration, you can of course let a few lucky volunteers test drive your products – and have some more fun at the same time! Stock up before the party on vintage costume accessories such as sunglasses, scarves and hats, and cut some celebrity pics out of a magazine based on your guest’s features. Your guests can take turns playing celebrity look alike and the best impersonation wins a prize.

Once you have held a few successful direct sales parties, your reputation as an innovative party plan hostess will get around, and you will find your friends asking when the next one is scheduled! This is a great way to make money and get a chance to connect and have a fun time with other moms all in one afternoon.

Direct sales isn’t a get rich quick variety of business but you cannot ignore the numbers; it’s highly profitable and an extremely lucrative business entity once you’ve established your foundation.

In direct sales you receive payment from a new affiliate up front and then the company receives their cut. The sale of products or services occurs through person-to-person contact or through an online business medium away from a retail location with no middleman involved.

If you think about it, selling is an outlandish endeavor because achieving financial success in this industry is contingent upon your own individual efforts. Some consider sales to be an art in the category of persuasion.

It’s estimated that if you bring up the term “selling” over 95% of people will have an instant negative connotation associated with the term appear in their mind. Where is the negativity coming from? When you make a sale all you’re doing is solving a problem or enhancing an existing business model for a potential buyer.

In direct sales if you can express your liveliness and warmth whenever you present your opportunity, people will want to buy from you and be a part of what you have to offer. The reason why the direct selling industry continues to flourish is because word-of-mouth advertising flat out works.

Starting a direct-selling business and developing a team not only means fantastic money, but it develops priceless leadership skills that countless people can leverage into other areas of their lives. It’s one of those opportunities that centers around how intelligently you can work, not on the number of hours you work.

If you’re investigating the direct sales industry your research will show you how financially independent you could be in the near future if you make up your mind to enter this work from home option. According to specific reports, one quarter of the U.S. population has bought products and services supplied by people in the direct selling business.

Another current survey displays the direct selling industry as gaining control of a large chunk of the market share because of the internet. The online medium has revolutionized direct sales because it’s comparatively inexpensive and simple to launch a website. In the online world, there’s a 24/7 global audience for your services.

The majority of home based business opportunities you see online are mainly direct sales based. With the internet and technological advancements you can generate massive amounts of immediate cash flow while offering more availability to the consumer. The financial rewards of direct selling are abundant. However, not all direct sales pay plans are created equal. Select one of the best direct sales business opportunities wisely and forget about having to work for someone else again.

Hosting fundraisers in direct sales is a wonderful way to find new customers and to possibly recruit new team members.

Choosing the length of time you’ll host the fundraiser is crucial to the fundraisers success.

My suggestion is to consider starting your fundraiser on a Thursday and running it for twelve days. Your fundraiser would then end on a Monday. By running it for twelve days starting on Thursday, you???ll capture two weekends.

One mistake I’ve seen is fundraisers that last too long. As a distributor I know you want more sales and I know you want to allow more opportunity, but what happens is folks procrastinate as they know they still have a week or two left.

If you cut the fundraiser short, you’ll miss out on sales from those who might be busy during the short timeframe and might not have the opportunity to sell the products. By offering twelve days, this can almost always fit into anyone’s schedule.

It might be helpful to create a timeline for the fundraising participants. Your timeline might look like this:

Thursday – Look through the catalog and begin letting your family and friends know you’ll be taking orders to help support the organization.

Friday-Sunday – Make sure you take the fundraising catalog with you through the weekend. Also take plenty of order forms and pens to document the orders.

Monday-Friday – Continue taking orders and begin to assemble the order forms so that you can turn them in on Monday.

Friday-Sunday – Again, take your fundraising catalog with you to all your weekend activities. If you’re at a sports event, let the other parents know what you’re doing. If you’re at the beach with friends, let them know how they can help the organization.

Monday – Submit all orders and payment before 5:00 p.m.

I really believe that by holding the fundraiser over a two-weekend period you maximize the amount of sales.

If you are in direct sales then you know that life happens. Products get delayed, items don’t meet customer expectations and companies even run out of products and must quit manufacturing them for one of many reasons.

When these things happen, how are you conveying the information to your customers and downline? How you convey these things could make all the difference in the world in keeping that customer or keeping that team member.

I’ll provide a few examples. The company you represent has a popular item suddenly unavailable. This could be a tragedy in that everyone orders this product or this could be a golden opportunity to help your customers try a new product. You might even offer a one time coupon for folks to try this new product.

Another example, new catalogs are coming out and an older product is being discontinued. Again, this could be a tragedy and you could lose customers or this could be a golden opportunity to contact your customers now with a coupon for a new product, or possibly the opportunity to buy a supply of their favorite product before it’s discontinued. If you have samples, use samples to introduce the new product to your customers.

Tupperware (the company I represent) had a huge warehouse fire this past December, yep right during the end of the holiday selling season. Everything was wiped out. This could’ve been a disaster for the distributors, but Tupperware turned it around and offered us daily specials, which we could pass on to our customers, a few new products that they were able to get from other plants around the world and even some surprise packages which we all ordered as we knew these items were coming from around the world and we all wanted to see these surprise packages. Truly, I only missed a few items for my customers and explaining the fire to them and promising them a new catalog for January kept me from losing sales or customers.

When life happens in your direct sales company, take the time to plan out how you’ll convey this information and how you can use this as an opportunity to increase your sales and build your customer base.
